I'd prefer to be a fading star
Than one that never shone.

I'd prefer to be the old feeble house
Than the storm that blew it down.

I'd prefer to be somebody's enemy
Than nobody's friend.

I'd prefer to be love's last smile
Than hate's first tear.

I'd prefer to be your love
Than just your friend.

But I'd prefer to be your friend
Than your nobody.

I'd prefer to be there with you
Than here writing this now.
